Creating and editing product


1.1. How to create a new product, duplicate and edit. Detail info 


To add a new product in Shopify, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Shopify dashboard.
  2. Click on the “Products” section.
  3. Hit the “Add product” button.
  4. Enter the product's name, description, and price. 
  5. Upload images, video, 3d model to showcase your product.
  6. Set the quantity available for sale.
  7. Set options like size or color. 
  8. Assign tags and categories to help customers find your product.
  9. Check Status: can be draft or active. When a product is marked as active, it becomes visible on the page. However, if it's in draft status, it allows us to make additional settings or changes before making it visible.
  10. Click “Save” to publish your new product to your online store.

Duplicate a product 

To save time when you add a new product, you can duplicate a similar product. If you want to add options to an existing product, such as color or size, then add a variant to the product instead of duplicating the product.

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Products.
  2. Click the name of the product that you want to duplicate.
  3. Click Duplicate.
  4. Enter a title for the duplicate product.
  5. Optional: Select which product details to duplicate.
  6. Optional: Set the product status to active to publish the product on all sales channels, or keep the product status as draft.
  7. Click Duplicate product.

Edit a product

After you've created products, you can edit them to change their descriptions, prices, and any other product details.


1.2. Managing product media


Add media to your products

  1. In the Media section, add an image, 3D model, or video in one of the following ways:
  2. Click Upload new, and then select the file that you want to upload.
  3. Drag and drop the file that you want to upload into the Media section.
  4. Click Add from URL, enter the media URL that's hosted on YouTube or Vimeo, and then click Add file.
  5. Click Select existing to review and select from your existing media files.

Change your main product media

In the Media section, navigate to the media that you want to make your default media, and then drag and drop the image to the first image's place.



1.3. Add variant to a product. Detail info


  1. In the Variants section, click + Add options like size or color.
  2. In Option name field, enter a name for the option, such as Size. The option name is displayed to your customers.
  3. In Option values section, enter each option value, such as Small, Medium, or Large. The option values are displayed to your customers when they select a variant.
  4. Optional: To add another option to your variant, such as Color or Material, click + Add another option. You can have up to 3 options for each product.
  5. Click Done, and then click Save.
  6. Take a look on all created variants below variants options. 
  7. These variants can be grouped by attributes such as color or size.
  8. When you group variants by size, imagine if one size, like "Medium” or “1," has five color options. By clicking the dropdown list for each variant, you can easily adjust quantities, prices, or update images as needed for each specific variant.
  9. Clicking on the name of a variant will seamlessly redirect you to the detailed page of that specific variant. This grants you the opportunity to delve deeper and make any necessary further adjustments.


1.4. How to view, edit, or delete product listings.

You can oversee your products comprehensively. Within this section, you can access all products, whether they're active, in draft, or archived. Furthermore, you can perform various actions such as removing a product, setting it as draft or active, and adding or removing tags. Utilizing the search icon, you can swiftly find specific products. Additionally, you can employ the arrows icon to sort products, and also you can alphabetically arrange categories and vendors.
