How to Add the Search & Discovery App in Shopify

  1. Log in to Your Shopify Admin:
    • Open your Shopify admin panel by logging in with your credentials.
  2. Navigate to the Shopify App Store:
    • In the admin panel, go to the Apps section.
  3. Search for the Search & Discovery App:
    • In the Shopify App Store, use the search bar to type in “Search & Discovery”.
    • Press Enter to search.
  4. Select the Search & Discovery App:
    • From the search results, find the “Search & Discovery” app.
    • Click on the app to open its details page.
  5. Add the App to Your Store:
    • On the app details page, click the “Add app” button.
    • You will be redirected to your Shopify admin, where you need to confirm the installation.
    • Click on the “Install app” button to complete the process.
  6. Configure the App:
    • Once the app is installed, you can access it from your Shopify admin under the Apps section.

How to Add Related Products Using the Search & Discovery App in Shopify

  1. Log in to Your Shopify Admin:
    • Open your Shopify admin panel by logging in with your credentials.
  2. Navigate to the Apps Section:
    • In the admin panel, go to the Apps section.
    • Click on the “Search & Discovery” app to open it.
  3. Access Recommendations:
    • In the Search & Discovery app, click on the “Recommendations” section.
  4. Find the Specific Product:
    • Click on a specific product from the list to open the page and add recommendations.
    • In search field, browse and add different products to relate them to this product as recommendations. Related products can also be auto-generated. To hide auto-generated recommendations, check the box at the end of the product list. To show them, leave the box unchecked.
  5. Save Your Changes:
    • After adding the related products, make sure to save your changes.

Setting Description
Heading

To add a heading to the section, simply enter the text in the provided field.

In the top menu of the field, you can find options to customize the heading such as making it bold, or italic.

Heading size

The heading size setting offers three options to control the size of section headings:

  • Small
  • Medium
  • Large
Button label

Decide whether the section includes a button:

  • To display the button, enter text into the field as the label.
  • To hide the button, leave the text field empty.
Button link Add a URL or page link for the button, directing customers to a specific destination.
Button style

Choose the button’s appearance:

  • Solid: A fully filled button.
  • Outline: A button with a border and no fill.
  • Inline: A minimal button style aligned with the text.
Maximum products to show  This setting determines the maximum number of products that will appear on the page. You have the flexibility to select a range from 2 to 10 products.
Number of columns on desktop Use the slider to choose the number of columns for desktop view. You can select a range from 2 columns to a maximum of 5 columns.
Enable slider on desktop Activate this option to display products in a slideshow format on desktop screens and mobile devices.
Pagination style
  • Dots
  • Counter
Color scheme

Choose a color scheme for related products section.

*Applying a color scheme automatically updates all associated colors set in the theme settings according to the created color schemes. You can edit colors in this block, but it will impact the other sections and blocks in which the same color scheme is used.  Learn more about color schemes.

Setting Description
Image ratio

The “Image ratio” setting allows you to control how images are displayed on your website based on their width-to-height ratio. You have several options to choose from:

  • Adapt to image: This option uses the aspect ratio of the images, ensuring that they are not cropped and displayed in their original dimensions.
  • Portrait: This option crops the images to use a 2:3 ratio, creating a taller appearance with a width that is 2/3 of its height.
  • Square: This option crops the images to use a 1:1 ratio, creating a square-shaped display with equal width and height.
  • Landscape: This option crops the images to use a 3:2 ratio, creating a wider appearance with a width that is 1.5 times the height.
Show second image on hover Check this option to display a second image on hover. This will only apply if the product page includes more than one image.
Show vendor Show the vendor of the products under the product title. 
Show product rating Displays the average product rating in stars with the number of reviews in parenthesis, for example: ★★★★★ (8). Also requires a product review app such as Shopify Product Reviews, and Metafield definitions for reviews.rating_count and reviews.rating.
Promo text Create a metafield of type "Single line text" to customize info. Paste name here (e.g.,"Promo text") Learn more. Check please also link to instruction before the table. Text can be added only through metafield.

Product Info:

You can add product information in two ways:

  1. Fixed Text: Type a general text that will appear the same on all products. This can be useful for standard information that applies to every product, such as shipping details or return policies.
  2. Metafields: Add different product info through metafields, allowing you to customize the content for each individual product. This is ideal for displaying unique details such as specifications, features, or any other product-specific information.
Show products stock

Swipe the button to the right to display stock information at the bottom of the product card. The stock status will vary based on the product type:

  • In Stock: If the product has multiple variants and the first variant is out of stock, but another variant has stock available, the status will show “In Stock”.
  • Out of Stock: If no units of the product or its variants are available.
  • [Amount] in Stock: Displays the available quantity if the first variant has stock, or if the product doesn't have variants and has available stock.
Quick add

If you activate the Quick add option, then your customers can add an item to their cart from the product card. Choose from the following options:

  • None: No quick add feature is displayed.
  • Standard: Displays one of the following quick add buttons on product cards:
    • Add to cart: For single-variant products. When a customer clicks the button, the product is automatically added to their cart.
    • Choose options: For products with variants. When a customer clicks the button, a pop-up dialog displays for them to make their variant selection and then proceed with the purchase.
  • Bulk: Displays the Quick order list functionality.

Mobile layout 


Number of columns on mobile

Choose how products are displayed on mobile devices:

  • 1 Column: Displays products in a single-column layout for a simple and focused view.
  • 2 Columns: Splits products into two columns for a compact and organized layout.
Enable slider on mobile Enable this setting to allow users to swipe products on mobile devices, enhancing navigation and interactivity.

Section padding


Setting Description
Top padding The 'Top padding' setting allows you to adjust the amount of space at the top of the section using a slider. 
Bottom padding The 'Bottom padding' setting functions similarly to the “Section top padding” setting, but controls the space at the bottom of the section. 
Top padding mobile The 'Top padding mobile' setting allows you to adjust the amount of space at the top of the section specifically for mobile devices, using a slider.
Bottom padding mobile The 'Bottom padding mobile' setting works similarly to the 'Top padding mobile' setting but controls the space at the bottom of the section for mobile devices.
