Recently view products

The stylization of product cards in the Recently Viewed Products section is linked to the Product Card Settings on the search page. Any changes made to the product card settings on the search page will automatically update the product cards in the Recently Viewed Products section as well.

The Recently Viewed Products section automatically displays products that a customer has previously viewed during their session. It helps users quickly return to items they’ve shown interest in, improving the shopping experience and increasing conversion opportunities.

This section is typically shown on product pages, the homepage, or the cart page to encourage revisits and continued browsing.

This section is ideal for improving product discovery, boosting engagement, and reducing friction in the customer journey.

How to access the Recently viewed products section

Access this section through the theme customizer:

  1. Navigate to Online Store > Themes
  2. Select “Customize” on your active theme
  3. On any theme template, click “Add section
  4. Search and select “Recently viewed products”

To insert a new section between existing ones, follow the steps in the article "Add a section"


How to configure the Recently viewed products section

Basic Components

The “Recently viewed products” section consists of general settings.

To start customizing your recently viewed products, click on the “Recently viewed products” section to access its settings.


General settings


Select a setting described in the following table:

Setting Description
Heading

To add a heading to the section, simply enter the text in the provided field.

In the top menu of the field, you can find options to customize the heading such as making it bold, or italic.

Heading size

The heading size setting offers three options to control the size of section headings:

  • Small
  • Medium
  • Large
Maximum products to show

Set the maximum number of products to display in this section.

You have the flexibility to select a range from 2 to 4 products.

Number of columns on desktop Use the slider to choose the number of columns for desktop view. You can select a range from 2 columns to a maximum of 5 columns.
Color scheme
  • After creating your custom color schemes in the Theme Settings > Colors tab, you can apply them to various sections.
  • Each section or block includes a Color Scheme Dropdown, allowing you to select a scheme that aligns with your brand identity for a cohesive appearance.

Mobile layout 


Number of columns on mobile

Choose how products are displayed on mobile devices:

  • 1 Column: Displays products in a single-column layout for a simple and focused view.
  • 2 Columns: Splits products into two columns for a compact and organized layout.

Section padding


Setting Description
Top padding The 'Top padding' setting allows you to adjust the amount of space at the top of the section using a slider. 
Bottom padding The 'Bottom padding' setting functions similarly to the “Section top padding” setting, but controls the space at the bottom of the section. 
Top padding mobile The 'Top padding mobile' setting allows you to adjust the amount of space at the top of the section specifically for mobile devices, using a slider.
Bottom padding mobile The 'Bottom padding mobile' setting works similarly to the 'Top padding mobile' setting but controls the space at the bottom of the section for mobile devices.
